Jordan- Senate President, Cypriot FM discuss Palestine, Syria

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Senate President, Faisal Al-Fayez, and the Cypriot Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides, on Thursday held talks on the Palestinian issue and the Syrian crisis.

The international community needs to do more "to restore peace and stability " in the Middle East and put the squeeze on Israel and compel it to fulfill legitimate requirements of international resolutions that enable the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on Palestinian national soil, Al- Fayez told Kasoulides.

He emphasized that a just solution to the Palestinian cause must be sought which will be a " key " to various conflicts in the region.

With regard to the Syrian crisis, Al- Fayez renewed Jordan's position which backs a political solution that puts an end to the "tragedy" inflicted on the Syrian people.

Jordan, Al- Fayez said, hosts and provides humanitarian support to 1.5 million Syrian refugees despite the Kingdom's meager resources. Jordan's official called for more aid to enable the Kingdom continue its great role that was failed to be offered by big countries.

The Cypriot minister said his country is keen to promote ties with Jordan, calling for further cooperation in various fields, especially the energy sector as well as activating bilateral agreements signed between the two countries.
