HE Deputy Premier Opens Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud opened at Doha Exhibition Center the 4th Qatar International Agricultural Exhibition, which is being held under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani.

More than 180 local and international agricultural firms participate in the event to exhibit their agricultural and food products.

The three-day event presents an opportunity for exchanging expertise in the areas of agriculture and modern irrigation systems and advances agricultural sector.

A number of Their Excellencies ministers attended the opening ceremony along with heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Doha, officials and interested experts, and representatives of exhibitors from Qatar and abroad.

HE Al Mahmoud toured pavilions of the exhibition and listened to a briefing about the products by those in charge of the pavilions.

Speaking to QNA, HE the deputy premier hailed the support of the state under the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for the agricultural sector and Qatari farmers to double the agricultural, livestock and fisheries production in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and contribute to achieving food security and environment sustainability.

He highlighted the state's free backing for Qatari farmers and the agricultural sector including planning, irrigation, agricultural guidance and other services that encourage food production.

For his part, HE Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti expressed delight at organizing the exhibition for the fourth time, hailing Qatari agricultural products in terms of quality, packaging and availability. He also praised the organization and efforts of the Ministry of Environment in this regard.

He also touched on the state efforts in coordination with ministries and concerned entities as well as its cooperation with the Ministry of Environment to develop the agricultural sector, poultry production and livestock and fisheries.

HE Minister of Environment Ahmed bin Amer Al Humaidi stressed the significance of the exhibition in terms of showing Qatar's agricultural products, opening horizons for foreign trade and bringing all exhibitors under the same roof to exchange expertise and experiences in these fields.

He praised the wide participation of Qatari farms and companies as well as the a number of embassies in the presence of their ambassadors, which reflects the vital role of the event in attracting exhibitors and promoting domestic agricultural products.

He also hailed the support of the state and the wise leadership in boosting the sector and cooperating with Qatar Development Bank in this regard, expressing gratitude to HE Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani for his backing and support for the exhibition.
