Pacquiao arrives in Dubai says he may opt for basketball

Former world champ in eight divisions Manny Pacquiao said he would prefer basketball to boxing if he is re-elected senator in the Philippine General Elections next year soon after he arrived in Dubai from Manila via Singapore on Monday night.

He also mentioned that he may fight one or two more times before he hangs up his gloves following his historical loss against United States' Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao accompanied by his wife Jinkee and two of his five children were given a warm welcome by his well wishers and fans at Dubai International Airport.

"The first visit to Dubai is proving to be memorable already so many people to greet us and more waiting for the various events here including two functions and a match where my basketball team Mahindra Enforcers will play in a tournament this weekend" Pacquiao said.

Regarding his latest passion - basketball he said: "The choices are going to be obvious but if I become a senator again then basketball will be the likely main point of focus in my life after my family of course."

"To fight or not to fight anymore is not a big question. There are so many fighters of the same quality and class from Aamir Khan to Floyd Mayweather plus a couple of other top boxers in the weight category I am likely to be in" Pacquiao who these days doubles up as a player-cum-coach of his basketball side added.

Pacquiao is still recovering from a shoulder injury sustained during his defeat to Mayweather at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Pacquiao's has fought a record 65 fights 57 of which have been wins including 38 knockouts.

The six defeats he has faced still do not deter him from having one more go at Mayweather.
