Army officer martyred in Turkey's southeast PKK attack

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) A noncommissioned Turkish army officer was martyred and a policeman injured in an attack on a convoy of security forces carried out by PKK terrorists in southeastern Hakkari province early Tuesday morning military sources said.

The incident took place in the province’s Yuksekova district.

The wounded policeman was taken to Yuksekova State Hospital. Security forces launched an operation in the area to nab the attackers.

Turkish forces have been fighting the PKK terrorist group since a two-and-a-half year cease-fire broke down in late July following the Suruc bombing that killed dozens of people.
