200 Arab Publications Issued in South America in 19th Century


(MENAFN- Saudi Press Agency) Riyadh Muharram 27 1437 Nov 9 2015 SPA -- King Abdulaziz Public Library has revealed the issuance of 200 Arabic newspapers and magazines in the countries of South American continent from mid 19th century until mid 20th century during which they sought in their march to serve Arabic language and literature as well as the openness to other cultures in addition to serving Arabs' citizens in the American continent.
Due to the importance of monitoring the Arab history in the immigration countries King Abdulaziz Public Library acquired copies of these magazines and newspapers with a group of Arab newspapers abroad that contributed to the service of Arabic culture and literature.
Inside the Library these publications are subject to mechanisms to ensure their preservation and integrity and are used by researchers as a source to study the evolution of the Arab press in the immigration countries and the introduction of the status of Arab immigrants there.
Moreover these publications have formed a dimension and turning point in the stage of development of the Arab press and literature in general and that of among 800 magazines and newspapers issued in the Diaspora spread over more than 80 countries.
