S. Korean trade confidence stays weak
(MENAFN) Fears about the expected interest rate hike in the United States, keeps South Korean industries' confidence on the negative side, as Business Sentiment Index (BSI) for the current quarter fell one point from the third quarter to 87.
The number plunged from 97 in the three months to June to 88 in the July-September period following the outbreak of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) which escalated in June and July.
Furthermore, the BSI for exporters deteriorated two points from the last quarter to 89 in the October-December quarter, with the numbers for domestic demand-focused businesses being unchanged at 87.
