UAE- Quake Hits Iran s Khoy City

ABU DHABI 17th September 2015 (WAM) -- An earthquake measuring 4.1 degrees on the open-ended Richter scale has shaken Khoy a city in the northwestern West Azarbaijan Province of Iran.

According to a report carried by the Qatar News Agency QNA which quoted Iran's (IRNA) News Agency the seismological unit of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University said that the quake was felt at 38.64 degrees latitude and 44.54 degrees longitude. The epicenter of the quake was registered at the depth of six kilometers.

No report is yet available on likely damage or injuries.

Iran experiences frequent earthquakes. In 2003 a magnitude-6.6 earthquake killed some 26000 and flattened the historical city of Bam.
