Qatar- CHSS QHIC in agreement to promote research and cultural activities

Doha: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the Center of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) at Qatar University College of Arts and Sciences (QU-CAS) and Qatar Heritage and Identity Centre (QHIC) to promote mutual research and engage cultural activities between the CHSS and QHIC.

The agreement was signed by CAS dean Dr Eiman Mustafawi and QHIC director Dr Khaled Yousef Al Mulla in the presence of QU President Dr Hassan Al Derham CHSS director Dr Kaltham Al Ghanim CAS Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Affairs Dr Mohammed Ahmedna CAS Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Dr Hassan Abdulaziz and QHIC Director of Public Relations & Communications Anas Qasim Al Anzi Director of Human Resources Bader Al Mulla Information Officer Ali Hussein and Activities Supervisor Hana Al Husseini.

The agreement will benefit QU undergraduate and graduate students and enhance the capacity of both CHSS and QHIC in the field of research and cultural activities through joint forums aimed at stimulating academic research in the field of culture arts and heritage. It comes in line with CAS’ efforts to achieve an integrated system of cooperation with local regional and international organisations to support QU’s strategy in contributing to the realisation of Qatar National Vision 2030.

In her remarks Dr Al Ghanim said: “This agreement represents one of the distinctive steps of Qatar University’s cooperation with community organisations in promoting the revitalisation of the cultural sector and preservation of heritage and identity which is one of the pillars of Qatar Vision 2030 and outlined in the national development strategies. In this regard QU responded with an ambitious research strategy which includes 4 areas of focus one of which is social change and identity”. She added: “CHSS will benefit considerably from this collaborative effort with DHIC as it continues to develop as a key partner in the field of culture identity and heritage in Qatar”.

Dr Al Mulla said: “.We are delighted to sign an agreement of mutual cooperation and partnership to consolidate relations and to support and develop ways of mutual cultural cooperation in the field of research and mutual training which will strengthen the capacity of the center in the field of research and cultural activities. We already have cooperation coordination and understanding with a lot of schools universities and educational institutions; but Qatar University has a unique status. It is the national university and we appreciate its vital role in Qatari society”.
