Jordan- Spanish minister praises Jordan's investment climate

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Spanish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ignacio Rubio said that Jordan will benefit from Spanish development aid to enable it to play its pivotal role.

At a meeting with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury, the Spanish minister praised Jordan's investment climate as well as the success of the private sector from both countries in establishing joint projects in the Kingdom.

Fakhoury spoke about Jordan's reform process and the challenges facing the Kingdom due to the current situation in the region, mainly in Syria. He also praised the assistance provided by Spain to Jordan.

The minister pointed to the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, noting that the presence of around 1.4 million Syrians in Jordan including 150,000 at public schools, is placing an increasing pressure on the Kingdom's limited resources.

He highlighted the importance of Jordan's role in hosting this large number of Syrian refugees and called for supporting the Kingdom to enable it to continue services to the refugees.

Fakhoury reviewed "Jordan 2025 vision", the 2016-2018 Executive Development Program, Governorates Development Program in addition to the elections, decentralization, political parties and municipalities laws.

He also spoke about investment opportunities worth over $24 billion that Jordan had launched at the World Economic Forum at the Dead Sea in May, in the energy and renewable energy, public transportation, water, tourism and urban development sectors.
