Indonesia officially asks OPEC to reactivate its membership

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) welcomed Indonesia's return to the organization that has contributed much to OPEC's history Indonesia has submitted an official request to (OPEC) to reactivate its full membership in the Organization, a statement by OPEC said.
The request has been circulated to all OPEC member countries for their consideration and approval.
The Indonesian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Sudirman said he will now be invited to attend the next regular meeting of the OPEC conference on December 4, 2015, adding that this will include the formalities of reactivating Indonesia's membership of the Organization.
In June, Sudirm said he was invited to attend the OPEC International Seminar, where he met OPEC Ministers.
The OPEC Secretariat has also recently received a high-level delegation from the Indonesian Parliament, headed by the Chairman of its Energy Committee.
Indonesia became a member of the organization in 1962, before suspending it with effect from January 1, 2009.
