Oman won't tour Pakistan

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Despite Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan's offer to the Oman team to tour his country in the coming months Oman Cricket (OC) has decided against the idea.

Instead the Oman squad skippered by Sultan Ahmed will play preparatory matches in UAE and India to tune up for the 2016 ICC World Twenty20.

Confirming the development to Muscat Daily Duleep Mendis Oman's coach and OC's Chief Development Officer said 'As per the plans that we have chalked out we are not going to travel to Pakistan for training or practice matches.

'We will train here and undertake two separate tours - to Dubai in November and then to India in December for conditioning and preparatory games.'

A fortnight back Khan the PCB chief had admittedly invited Oman and Hong Kong to camp and train in Karachi in the coming months to prepare for next year's World T20.

Of late the PCB has been desperately trying to reach out to non-Test nations in a bid to revive tours to Pakistan.

International teams had been completely ignoring tours to Pakistan ever since the deadly attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore in 2009.

Earlier this summer Zimbabwe was the first Test-playing team to visit Pakistan after a five-year hiatus.
