Kuwait- Extension Of Grace Seen For Suspended

(MENAFN- Arab Times) Public Authority for Manpower is preparing a memo to grant one month grace period to laborers who are registered on the files suspended under code 71 to facilitate amendment of their status and transfer of residences to other employers without the approval of the current employer whose file has been blocked, reports Al- Anba daily.

The daily quoting reliable sources explained that the memo was referred to the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Hind Al-Subaih for approval and she is looking forward to endorse the decision in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Secretary-General of the Government Manpower and Restructuring Program Fawzi Al-Mejdali disclosed that some 58,500 citizens received the subsidy for government personnel as of last July, noting the number keeps increasing because the quota of Kuwaiti personnel in private sector has increased tremendously in recent years compared to 2001, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

He explained that 1,662 citizens received government's subsidy in 2001, and the number shot up to 74,078 in 2014, reflecting successes of the country's policy of raising the quota of national personnel in non-governmental authorities. He stressed that the program has been exerting tremendous efforts to encourage citizens to seek jobs in private sector. He also said 31,848 applicants have searched for job vacancies and joined the program since 2003 to 2014, and they benefited from the compensation for job seekers worth KD 22 million.
