Five Iraqis killed, 18 wounded in series of blasts around Baghdad


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) An Iraqi officer and four civilians were killed while 18 others wounded on Thursday in a series of blasts that rocked many areas around the capital.

An official source in the Baghdad Command and Control told KUNA that a bomb exploded earlier today in Al-Basateen suburb north east of the capital leaving a civilian killed and six others wounded.

It added that two other civilians were killed and seven others wounded in a bomb blast near the industrial suburb in Al-Taji area north of here.

The source pointed out that a Colonel was killed when his car exploded east of the capital, whereas a civilian was also killed and five others wounded in a blast near a vegetables market in Al-Dariyah village south of here.

Meanwhile, the Iraqi Human Rights Ministry called on the international community to rapidly investigate the recent bombings that hit many areas of the country.(end) mhg.tg
