Abu Dhabi — A 143-year-old decorative curtain that covers the door of the Holy Ka’aba is on display at the capital’s Marina Mall during the holy month.

Uniquely characterised by its craftsmanship the religious work of art previously located in Mecca is rich with historical Islamic stories. Produced in 1293 Hijri or in the year 1876 its facade is skillfully embroidered with calligraphic forms of Quranic verses and Islamic motifs.
It is designed with scripts that explain its commission by Sultan Abdulhamid II the 34th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire whose reign lasted 33 years from 1876 to 1909. It was woven and designed with devotion under the supervision of the Khedive Ismail Pasha the ruler of Egypt at the time the grandson of Muhammad Ali Pasha considered to be the founder of modern Egypt and the ruler of Egypt between the years 1805 to 1848.
