Saudi- Walk the talk

(MENAFN- Arab News) This is with reference to the report 'OIC 'concerned' over Muslim situation in China' (June 28). Whenever I come across reports about the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemning any incident or expressing its concern over the plight of Muslims around the world this lip service only irritates me. Exactly what is it going to do about China's treatment toward Muslims? Nothing. The OIC should speak to the authorities in China and ask them to allow Muslims to observe their religious duties freely without any problem. The OIC needs to revisit its policies and function. What is the use of spending huge funds on infrastructure development and holding of conferences when the only thing it does is issuing statements?

There is a great need to revitalize the role of the OIC to protect the interests of Muslims across the world. We cannot rely on the United Nations for the resolution of our conflicts as it is yet another toothless organization heavily relying on issuing statements making hollow claims and bullying weak countries.
