Dubai Cares' Ramadan initiative a worthy cause: paper

(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) A UAE paper has said that as a philanthropic organisation working to improve children's access to quality education in developing countries, Dubai Cares has been doing exceptional work since it was established in 2007 by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

"And this Ramadan, its campaign, 'We can teach each other', once again emphasises the importance of education as the driver of change in the world," said Gulf News in an editorial on Sunday.

The struggle to provide every child on the planet with education is a challenge that many governments in developing countries around the world, and in the Arab region, often struggle with.

It is estimated that about 58 million children around the world don't go to school and a further 250 million primary school-age children globally are still not able to read, write or count with any degree of skill. This forebodes a grim future for our world.

The Dubai-based daily concluded by saying, "Therefore, in committedly, and consistently, creating educational opportunities for millions of children around the world, Dubai Cares is ensuring that it becomes the change it wants to see."
