(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has described French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius's proposals to revive peace talks with Israel as "good." Abbas, in remarks during a meeting of PLO's Executive committee, He said he listened to Fabius' proposals when the French foreign minister visited Ramallah recently and they were "good." Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu rejected the French proposals, saying Tel Aviv refused international "dictate." The French proposals call for halting Jewish settlement construction, exchange of lands and establishing the independent Palestinian state.
Abbas said the PLO Executive Committee meeting would discuss the International Criminal Court, security and economic agreements with Israel, as well as forming a new government.
A consensus government was formed a year ago with a mandate of rebuilding Gaza and preparing for elections. The government failed to honor its mandate because of differences between Hamas and Fatah, and inability to receive management of crossings.
