MoH signs MoU with Royal Colleges of Physicians of United Kingdom
(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) The Ministry of Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, with the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, which includes the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow and the Royal College of Physicians of London, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Health in Dubai.
The signing of the MoH is aimed at enabling the holding of college membership exams at Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Yousif Mohammed Al-Serkal, Assistant Under-Secretary for the Hospitals Sector in the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Lawrence McAlpine, MRCP(UK), in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Dr. Arif Al Nouriani, CEO of Al Qassimi Hospital.
Dr. Mohammed Al Olama noted the importance of this MoU, which comes in implementation of the strategy of the MoH aimed at improving health services by benefitting from global expertise and finding methods of joint cooperation in the areas of medical education. He said that this initiative is important for physicians and contributes to saving time and effort for doctors in the UAE and other countries in the region to take the exam without the need to travel to the United Kingdom.
Dr. Yousef stressed the importance of the partnership between the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom and the Ministry of Health, adding that the Memorandum will contribute to providing students with advanced skills and is also an opportunity for scientific benefit and development of clinical skills from prestigious world colleges, in order to keep up with advanced countries in the medical field and upgrade the health service in the UAE.
