S. Korea Confirms 7 More MERS Cases


(MENAFN- QNA) South Korea has confirmed seven more cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), bringing the total number of cases in the nation to 145.

The state-run MERS response headquarters said Sunday that four of the new cases contracted the virus at Samsung Medical Center.

One of the four cases at Samsung Medical Center was infected while accompanying an outpatient to the hospital and three others were exposed to the virus while staying at the emergency room of the hospital between May 27 and 29, according to Korea's (KBS WORLD) website.

Two others were confirmed to have been infected at Hallym University Dongtan Sacred Heart Hospital and Daechung Hospital and one was infected while accompanying a MERS patient in an ambulance.

Health authorities said that as of Sunday, 14 MERS patients died, ten were discharged after recovery and 121 is receiving treatment.
