NATO affirms readiness to cooperate with Tunisia
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy Thrasyvoulos Terry Stamatopoulos asserted readiness to support and cooperate with Tunisia's defense in training for officers to help them lead their armies.
Stamatopoulos made his remarks during a meeting with Tunisian Defence Minister Farhat Horchani as part of his three-day visit to the country, Monday night.
Stamatopoulos said NATO was ready to bolster cooperation on armed forces supervision, praising Tunisia's march to democracy, according to Tunisia Defence Ministry statement.
In return, Horchani stressed importance of enhancing cooperation with NATO to meet the security challenges facing his country, and the need to take advantage of their experts in the field of Defence and Strategic Studies and the fight against terrorism.
The minister also stressed on the way that the country achieved significant milestones on the path to democracy despite security challenges and transformation in the region.
