(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The Council of Arab Economic Unity (CAEU) on Thursday blasted the illegal Israeli measures aiming to Judaize the holy city of Jerusalem and evict its Arab residents.
Israel has recently scaled up its illegitimate practices in the city by confiscating the Palestinians' land, building more Jewish settlement units, and persisting in the serious excavations under the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Council stressed in a statement at the conclusion of its 100th session here.
The Council urged the international organizations, particularly the UNESCO, to step in and shoulder their responsibility for protecting the Islamic and Christian sacred sites in the city.
It also called on the Arab countries to speed up their diplomatic effort in order to stop the Israeli designs, stop the settlement expansions and force the Jewish countries to abide by the provisions of the Fourth Geneva Convention.
The Council also called on the Islamic and Arab financial institutions to fund projects geared to maintain the Arab presence in Jerusalem as per the relevant resolutions of Arab summit meetings.
