UAE- Wanted: Reliable storage devices for booming data industry

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) It is imperative that users carefully pick their methods of stowing away their work-related data and precious memories.

Dubai: The proliferation of data usage at the present and in the future requires the need for reliable and easy-to-use storage devices that will allow users to not only preserve their data but to more importantly protect it.

And with technological advancements such as the so-called Internet of Things fast taking shape it is only more imperative that users carefully pick their methods of stowing away their work-related data and precious memories.

“What’s interesting about storage is that it depends on the data produced and the data produced is expanding exponentially all the time” Glenn Rogers head of sales and marketing for Europe the Middle East and Africa at Seagate told Khaleej Times at a recent event in Dubai in which it revealed its new company logo and launched a new array of products.

The Cupertino California-headquartered maker of storage devices showcased the Seagate Seven the world’s thinnest portable hard drive at only seven millimetres and the 500GB Seagate Wireless portable drive as well as solutions such as the Seagate Personal Cloud that enable users to access their data wherever they are.

Also the company unveiled two flagship products from its premium brand LaCie: the LaCie Mirror a signature device that is a one-terabyte hard drive and piece of décor made in collaboration with acclaimed French designer Pauline Deltour; and the LaCie Rugged Raid which has twice the speed and capacity of a standard mobile hard drive but is shock- dust- and water-resistant.

All these products Rogers says will definitely appeal to consumers in the UAE known to look for only the best in devices they want to use.

“As consumers change they are maturing; more young people especially are coming to the market anyone who has memories to save” he pointed out.

On Seagate’s plans for the UAE Rogers said that they have “many plans” and that new products are carefully being developed in order to cater to the market and reach out to even more customers.

“It’s a great market; we’re learning a lot… and we have lots of opportunities to grow here” he said.

Asked about any differences he sees between the UAE market and other areas that he has served Rogers said that there isn’t much “in the sense that consumers and businesses are looking for amazing products like those we offer”.

“The more data we produce the more we need to store it” he said. “And we’re here to provide that.”
