Two soldiers abducted in eastern Turkey

(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Two soldiers have been abducted in the province of Mus in eastern Turkey, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement on Wednesday.

A soldier and a corporal were abducted Monday allegedly by Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) members between the villages Mescitli and Bostankent, said the statement.

An investigation has been launched, the statement added.

The Turkish government launched an initiative in early 2013, publicly known as the "solution process", to end the decades-old conflict with the PKK, which has claimed the lives of more than 40,000 people in almost 40 years.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Turkey as well as by the U.S. and the European Union.
