Youssef eyes next project after Harvard stint
(MENAFN- Arab News) BOSTON: The man dubbed the 'Jon Stewart of Egypt' is eyeing new projects as he departs the Boston area.
Bassem Youssef had been teaching about satire at Harvard University's prestigious Kennedy School of Government this semester.
The 41-year-old heart surgeon-turned-satirist rocketed to fame following the 2011 Arab Spring revolution as host of a popular Egyptian political satire show. But the show was canceled in June 2014 amid pressure. Youssef and his family left the country months later.
At a recent Boston appearance Youssef said he hasn't ruled out a return to television. For now he's focused on developing original content by young Arab actors and comedians.
He's also optimistic the 2011 uprisings laid the groundwork for more lasting positive changes in the Arab World.
