7.1 magnitude earthquake hits Nepal


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) A strong earthquake hit the capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, on Tuesday, weeks after the quake that killed more than 8,000 people and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes.

The US Geological Survey said in a statement that the quake had registered a magnitude of 7.1 and struck 68 km west of the town of Namche Bazaar, close to Mount Everest.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or major damage.
