Saudi- Batsmen dominate Summer League


(MENAFN- Arab News) JEDDAH: My Care Hala and AOT scored comfortable wins over Islamic Development Bank and Pepsi Deccan Knights respectively in the opening round of the Modern Pioneer Summer Premier organized by the Western Province Cricket Association.
IDB were beaten by 8 wickets while AOT thrashed Pepsi Deccan Knights by 55 runs
IDB was bowled out for 140 runs. Arif Nazeer was the highest scorer with 45. Adnan claimed 2 for 33 Imran 2 for 28 and Mohammed Taiyyab 2 for 10.
My Care Hala chased well and scored 144 for 2. Shahbaz Rasheed hammered an unbeaten 94. Kashif Shafeeq (30) and Babar Hussain(10) were the other scorers.
In the other match AOT plundered 219 for 8. Faiq Habeeb (47) Qaiser Lateef (44) and Zeeshan (37) were the scorers. Ishaq took 3 for 34 Athar Abdulquddus 3 for 55.
Pepsi Deccan Knights managed 164. Mazhar played a classic innings of 90 off 43 balls with a six and 16 fours. Wahid took 2 for 25 Imran Yusuf 2 for 47.
Seven matches were played in the Afternoon Summer league. In the first match Nestle Milo trounced UCC by 9 wickets Hala International School downed Hala Academy Blue by 4 wickets AMI Juffali routed Thales Group by 66 runs Asian Plastic Factory got the better of Jotun Paints by 4 wickets Lothers outclassed Al Safri by 53 runs My Care Hala Green made short work of Choudhry XI by 9 wickets and FUCHS Al Hamrani breezed past Hyundai by 8 wickets.
In the Morning Summer League Awesome XI lost to SFCC by 5 wickets Universal XI won against New Young Stars by 6 wickets Royal Brothers routed Haneefa Tigers by 78 runs Stallions beat Rising Stars by 50 runs Al Saudi XI crushed Jeddah Royals by 7 wickets ALJ Toyota struggled to get past Rehab Riders by 18 runs amd Al Kabbani thrashed Star XI by 88 runs.
The highlights of the day were Shahbaz Rasheed unbeaten 94 for My Care Hala Rashid of Universal XI's 4 for 7 against New Young Stars Aftab Khan's unbeaten 81 for Hala School against Hala Blue Nadeem Mohammed's unbeaten 87 for MCH against Choudhry XI and Pepsi Deccan Knights Mazhar's 90 which went in vain against AOT.
