Oman, Poland look to boost business ties


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A delegation from Poland has said that it sees Oman as a gateway to the region. The delegation was attending day one of the Oman-Poland Business Forum hosted by Ithraa at Grand Hyatt Muscat on Wednesday.

The delegation is being led by Katarzyna Kacperczyk Polish Undersecretary of State for Africa Asia and Middle East Policy Public and Economic Diplomacy.'This is a country that has excellent relations [not only] political but also economic with its neighbours countries in the Gulf region and the Middle East region' Katarzyna said. 'We believe if we combine forces - Omani and Polish companies - then we can really work on something meaningful.'

She said both Poland and Oman could act as entry points to their respective markets. 'I believe that we will manage to establish really good ties not only between countries but also between regions.'

Representatives of over 30 Polish companies involved in food security IT medicine green technologies and transport will meet with Omani businesses and tour economic zones.

On the first day of the forum Polish IT company Tuatara signed an agreement with UAE-based Gulf Business Machines to provide two projects for 'a large Omani company'.

'We see this as an interesting market with a very large potential for building skills particularly IT skills in Oman' said Krzysztof Goworek a Tuatara representative. 'Poland has great potential for modern skills technology that can support Oman in growth and in further development.'

The forum follows the visit of H E Dr Ali bin Masoud bin Ali al Sunaidy Minister of Commerce and Industry to Poland in March which Katarzyna said acted as a catalyst to increase economic ties between the two countries
