Two men acquitted of murder charges

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) A Doha Criminal Court has acquitted a Nepali and an Egyptian of charges of premeditated murder and assault, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.

The two men were accused of killing a Nepali worker in the Doha Industrial Area by attacking him and throwing him from the roof of the third floor.

However, the issue turned out to be only a fight between labourers, mostly Nepalis, at their accommodation. The victim reportedly got drunk at night and threatened his roommates with a knife. Hearing the commotion, the Nepali security guard of the building reported the issue to the Egyptian accommodation supervisor, who rushed to the scene.

He took hold of the victim, grabbed the knife from him, and tied his hands with a piece of cloth before handing him over to another Nepali colleague.

But, the victim managed to escape and run away only to fall from the roof of the building. Forensic evidence confirmed the death was from injuries suffered in the fall, Arrayah added.
