Kuwait requests Interpol to arrest extradite Al Haroun

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY April 18: Kuwait has requested Interpol to put Hamad Al- Haroun on blacklist and arrest and extradite him due to his involvement in fabricating some video tapes which could have led to sedition in the country reports Al-Rai daily. Investigations revealed that Al-Haroun had earlier managed to escape from Kuwait through Al-Nuwaiseeb border with the help of three civilian staff.

Other employees on duty at the time of escape have been charged with negligence and are being questioned. Informed sources revealed that Al-Haroun left the border checkpoint along with another individual in collusion with the civilian employees adding that the companion of Al- Haroun is a relative of one of the employees who facilitated the escape. Al-Rai had reported on April 8th that securitymen were looking for a Kuwaiti citizen identified as H. E for allegedly playing a major role in the fabrication of some tapes that would have caused sedition in the country.

However securitymen discovered during investigations that he had escaped from Kuwait. Many questions about how he escaped as well as suspicions of failure negligence and even collaboration were raised. Reportedly the group involved in the case of fabricated tapes experienced confusion fear and anxiety especially after the Public Prosecution shelved the case and after Sheikh Ahmad Al- Fahad appeared in the media to admit his involvement ask for forgiveness and vow to never involve in such issues.

Lawsuits
Sources explained that H.E. was out of the country for a long time for many reasons including the large number of lawsuits filed against him both in Kuwait and from some regional countries due to which he would have been convicted and imprisoned. He had returned to Kuwait three months ago after he was assured that the complaints against him will be withdrawn and the travel ban against him will be lifted.

However the promises made to him about lifting the travel ban were not realized and the course taken in the case of fabricated tapes did not work in his favor. Even though an arrest warrant was issued in the first week of March security authorities were unable to arrest him as he was in hiding. He eventually escaped in the last week of March through Nuwaiseeb border checkpoint heading to Dammam in Saudi Arabia and then Dubai.

Upon arrival in Dubai he was detained by Interpol due to a complaint lodged by the Jordanian authorities over his involvement in a financial scandal in Jordan but he was released because the case papers were not complete. After a few days he travelled to London.
