Nagan Raya Inland People Hunt Gold In Kreung Cut River

MEULABOH April 17 2015—Abundant gold reserves along Kreung Cut River are causing local people in Nagan Raya Regency to hunt river gold.

Nagan Raya Mining and Energy Head Samsul Kamal said the regional government would provide facilities in order to increase the economy of its people.

“In addition to natural stone people today are interested in finding river gold because the region has abundant gold reserves that can be taken manually” he said Wednesday (4/15/2015).

Inland people in the region hunt natural stone because of the recent trend. Lately some of them began to search for river gold either manually or using advanced equipments.

Samsul said the regional government did not specify special area or location for people’s mining. However there is a specific area based on the Spatial Plan (RTRW) that is being drafted.

People are still constrained by Aceh Regional Regulation (Qanun) No. 15/2013 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining Management. “There is no special mining location let alone the reserves are unspoiled. The government only set mining area in the spatial planning which can be utilized by the people” he added.Mining activity under mining license (IUP) is allowed to use heavy equipments while mining activity under people’s mining license (IPR) is not allowed to use heavy equipments.
