Omantel to pay USD13m fine by telecom regulator
(MENAFN) Omantel, the primary provider of internet services in the Oman, said that it has been fined a sum of about USD13 million by the country's telecommunications regulator, Arabian Business reported.
The country's former monopoly in telecommunication services did not disclose the underlying reasons for the fine, but said that an appeal is 100 percent set for proposal in the upcoming days.
The disputes over the fine are still taking place and the company is still seeking an adjudication that will settle the deal once and for all. Omantel logged a net profit of USD316.8million in 2014.
