Jordanian Planning Minister Meets US Official


(MENAFN- QNA) Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury on Sunday met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard, who is on a visit to Jordan They discussed the repercussions of the Syrian refugees crisis, said the official Petra news agency.

Fakhoury told the US official that Jordan has received around 1.4 Syrian refugees since the eruption of the crisis in their country, adding that this massive number placed major burdens on the Kingdom infrastructure and already-strained resources.

He spoke about the Jordan 2015 Response Plan to the Syrian Refugees Crisis, noting that the plan was devised in cooperation with UN, government agencies and NGOs and other parties. The minister stressed that aid must be pooled in accordance with the priorities set in the plan to enable Jordan continue serving the refugees.

Richard commended Jordan's efforts in helping the refugees and pledged that the US will continue to support Jordan.
