Prosecutor clears Sheikh Nasser Al Kharafi

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 18 (KUNA): Office of the Public Prosecutor issued a statement on Wednesday noting it had thrown out the case brought about by Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah for lack of evidence and lack of veracity of details.

Laying out a backdrop of the case the statement explains that Sheikh Ahmad filed a complaint with authorities accusing Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and Jassem Mohammad Abdul-Mohsem Al-Kharafi with conspiracy to topple the government of Kuwait with establishing contact with foreign governments with money laundering and with tampering with public funds.

These accusations were based on a set of flash memories consisting of supposedly pictures and sound of the two accused conspiring against the state and its interests said the statement. In receiving this complaint by Sheikh Ahmad the statement said the Public Prosecutor set in motion its investigation in the case by among other things listening to testimonies of Sheikh Ahmad of State Minister for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Sabah of Sheikh Khalifah Al-Athbi Al-Sabah and others with bearing on the case.

The statement furthermore indicates that the Public Prosecutor listened equally to the testimonies of the two accused in the case and ordered the proper authorities to fully inspect the flash memories. All recordings of sound and pictures on the flash memories were deemed un-original and suffered from much editing and tampering said the statement.

The conclusion of the invalidity of the flash memories came after the office of the Public Prosecution had them thoroughly examined for any trace of criminal evidence which it found deeply lacking.

After extensive probing the Public Prosecutor concluded that the case by the complainant Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah lacked merit and evidence that the two accused Sheikh Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al- Sabah and Jassem Mohammad Abdul- Mohsem Al- Kharafi were ever involved in a conspiracy to topple the government or contact foreign governments or to be associated with money laundering or to be caught tampering with public funds. In sum the Public Prosecutor found the complainant's case devoid of elements of a felony and had no evidence whatsoever to offer regarding the veracity of the flash memories which were found to say the least to be fake and concocted.
