Saudi- Court opens file on ''deaths from errors and violations''
(MENAFN- Arab News) The general court in Jeddah has begun looking into tens of cases related to deaths caused by errors and violations by unidentified sources particularly those related to exposure to insect repellents electrocution and public sewage holes.
The court held sessions to examine the case of two children who died after being exposed to an inspect repellent known as ''Phosphine'' that leaked from a neighboring apartment in northern Jeddah.
Doubts regarding the responsibility in the children''s deaths arose an investigation was completed. The case was submitted by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Public Security after reviewing the report of the civil defense indicating that the family is requesting compensation.
The court has also begun looking into the case of a young Saudi male who died three years ago after being electrocuted in a public park in southern Jeddah. The court subpoenaed witnesses and the report of the Civil Defense to investigate accusations made by the victim''s father that Jeddah''s municipality and the construction company that handled the infrastructure in the area were responsible for his son''s death.
Sources disclosed that the court in Jeddah previously issued sentences for similar cases requiring those responsible to pay compensation after proving their errors and is expected to issue rulings for ongoing cases in the near future.
Meanwhile the families of victims who died after falling into open sewage holes are awaiting the completion of investigations. Their cases may be referred to the court to rule against responsible parties and a group of lawyers have volunteered to defend these families in court sources pointed out.
