A mother to all Arabs
(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM)) A UAE paper has said that behind the scenes, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has always played an active role in supporting women's rights and human development generally.
"That has been the case not only in this country but also in the wider region, which explains why the recognition of her social and humanitarian work is rather well-deserved," said The National in its editorial on Sunday.
As the paper reported yesterday, after receiving the Shield of Excellence award this year for her efforts to serve civil society in Egypt, the mother of the nation has also been named the mother of the Arabs by the General Union of Arab Producers and the Arab Women's Campaign. She was awarded the title at a ceremony in the Abu Dhabi on Friday.
"This region is indeed fortunate to have a remarkable woman like Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, whose caring hands have extended to reach inside and outside her country," concluded the paper.
