''Rate of TB cases in Kuwait going down every year''

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 20: Head of the Tuberculosis Control Unit at the Public Health Sector of the Health Ministry Dr Kholud Al- Hamdan said the rate of tuberculosis in the country is going down every year as Kuwait has succeeded in the treatment process reports Al- Anba daily. Al-Hamdan disclosed 41 Kuwaitis were among 385 cases reported in 2014 which translates to an average of 3.2 persons out of 100000. She said the ministry examined 1203 people who interacted with the infected persons through chest X-ray and skin test (tuberclean). She added 655 cases were referred to the Lung Treatment Center as a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Dr Majdah Al-Qattan revealed the ministry will soon invite an expert from the World Health Organization (WHO) to review the tuberculosis control strategy to determine if it is in line with the WHO protocol. She said another WHO expert will deliver a lecture at a workshop by end of this month as part of efforts on tuberculosis control.
