(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) His Majesty King Abdullah II and Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Monday, held a summit meeting in Amman, discussing ways to strengthen Jordanian-Kuwaiti ties in various fields, especially in political, economic and military affairs.
The meeting dealt with the latest developments in the region.
Both leaders hailed relations between the two countries as advanced, stressing the importance of further cementing them to serve the common strategic interests of the two nations and their peoples.
His Majesty the King commended Kuwait's support for Jordan in various circumstances. The King ordered the government to name a liquefied gas terminal in Aqaba after Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad. It would, henceforth, be known as His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah Terminal.
King Abdullah and Sheikh Sabah stressed that Arab countries should maintain closer coordination to address challenges threatening the region, namely extremism and terrorism.
The two leaders emphasized the need for a common Arab and Muslim stance against terrorism and extremism, underlining the role of religious institutions in promoting an enlightened and intellectual approach, based on the principles of Islam and its tolerance and moderation.
Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad stressed Kuwait's firm stance in supporting Jordan in its response to the threat of terrorism and extremism and in promoting peace, security and human values, which martyred pilot Muath Kasasbeh died defending.
During the talks, the two leaders reviewed developments in Syria and Iraq.
His Majesty King Abdullah II held a luncheon in honor of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad and his accompanying delegation, attended by a number of senior officials of both countries.
The King and civilian and military officials bid farewell to Sheikh Sabah, and his accompanying delegation, at Marka airport, on the conclusion of his visit to the Kingdom.
