PM meets UK's International Development Secretary


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Prime Minster Abdullah Ensour on Sunday met with the UK's International Development Secretary, Justine Greening, who is in Jordan to announce ?100 million in UK humanitarian aid to help Jordan shoulder the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.

During the meeting, the premier voiced Jordan's thanks for the assistance provided by the UK.

"Jordan has strengthened its role in the war on the Daesh terrorist group," Ensour said, while stressing that this war requires international support for Jordan.

Ensour also noted that the UK provided aid to Jordan and said this is important, but more importantly is the UK's voice in urging international communities to support Jordan's war on terrorism.

Further, Secretary Greening offered her condolences over the killing of airman Muath Al-Kasasbeh.

Meanwhile, UK officials, accompanying Secretary Greening, thanked Jordan for hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees, stressing that the UK provided aid to the refugees and is keen to help their host communities. The visiting officials will visit the Zaatari refugee camp.
