GCC tourists prefer Oman for short breaks


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman has emerged as one of the top destinations for short-breaks among GCC travellers.

Traveller numbers registered a 17 per cent hike in the third quarter of 2014 compared to the same period in 2013 a Ministry of Tourism (MoT) statement said.

Salem al Mamari director general of tourism promotion MoT said 'Compared to other countries Oman offers a wide variety in its geographical features making it an attractive destination. ' Besides the sultanate boasts of world-class airports a wide network of highways superior ports to make travel inside and outside the country smoother  added the statement.

'We have partnered with Oman Air to offer economical and interesting travel packages to attract potential travellers to see our country as well as remind the existing travellers to visit again.'

Latest statistics by the National Centre for Statistics and Information also show that over 701311 inbound tourists from the GCC had visited the sultanate till September 2014.
