UAE- Sewa operates water plant smartly to save on labour


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Using smart technology would help in saving cost of setting up a pumping station and extension of water pipe in area of 60 kilometres.

Sharjah: The Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) started using smart devices to operate new water desalination plant located in Tahil Area to save payments for human operators.

Dr Rashid Alleem Director-General of Sewa said Sewa is keen on using advanced technology to facilitate its services save time and money. Using smart technology would help in saving cost of setting up a pumping station and extension of water pipe in area of 60 kilometres.



He stressed that Sewa implemented this new project to develop its services on the instructions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.



Sewa is also coordinating with international companies and research centres to go smart in all types of services.



Alleem pointed out that the operation of the plant is being monitored on huge computerised screens in Al Sajjah Plant that receives signals from smart devices in the new plant. When an emergency fault occurs the devices will send signals to engineers and the water storage would function automatically to feed supply water for consumers in the area temporary until the issue is solve.
