House speaker, Cypriot ambassador discuss region
(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Lower House speaker Atif Tarawneh and the Cypriot ambassador to Jordan, Charalambos Hadjisavvas, discussed on Monday various issues concerned with the Middle East region.
During the meeting, they reviewed the impact of the regional conditions, in particular the Palestinian issue, the Syrian crisis, the influx of refugees as well as Jordan's consistently firm stance towards various national, regional and international issues.
Hadjisavvas delivered a letter from the Speaker of the Cypriot House of Representatives, Yiannakis Omirou, regarding correspondence sent to the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management and the EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship concerning the burden being borne as a result of the influx of refugees that Jordan has received and the need to increase assistance to the Kingdom.
