Juve, Napoli to reach Doha on December 19


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Serie A leaders Juventus and seventh-placed Napoli will reach Qatar on December 19, four days ahead of their Doha clash, the Organising Committee of the Italian Super Cup announced here yesterday.

The match, played between the reigning Serie A champion and the Italian Cup holder will see two of the best and most exciting rosters in the world football meet on December 22 at 8:30pm at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium of Al Sadd Sports Club.

Addressing a press conference Khalid Al Kuwari, Vice President of the Organising Committee said: "Teams are set to arrive to Doha on December 19. The training grounds for both teams are the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium (Al Sadd Sports Club), Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium (Lekhwiya Sports Club) and Aspire Academy football pitches. The official training sessions for the match will be held at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium on December 21."

The QFA official requested fans to reach the stadium early.

"We advise the fans to arrive early, the stadium gates will open at 4:00pm while the fanzone will open its doors to the fans at 3:00pm," Khalid said.

The Organising Committee announced that tickets are selling fast and fans from all over the world will arrive to Doha in the upcoming days to be part of the amazing match.

"To date, a total of 11,720 tickets have been sold on the Qatar Football Association's (QFA) website as well as in the ticket booth located in Villaggio Mall," informed Khalid.

With one week to go, the Organising Committee also announced that a number of social media competitions will take place on QFA's social media platforms to build up excitement in the run up to the match.

"We are proud to host this major event, which reinforces our commitment and ability to successfully hosting international sporting events. We are constantly committed to delivering a unique and inspiring experience for all the fans attending the Italian Super Cup. Demand for the tickets is set to remain high and we are happy to witness the fans' excitement building up ahead of the match next week."

Numerous promotional activations have been organised for football lovers at fanzones. Fans will be introduced to the authentic Italian culture, which Katara Cultural Village and the Italian Embassy in Qatar will organise in the lead up to the match.

Meanwhile, the Italian Super Cup TIM trophy tour continued its journey to the Qatar Foundation Recreation Services to celebrate the Official Opening of the West Green Spine, a brand new outdoor complex within Awsaj Recreation Center which includes outdoor Football, Volleyball and Basketball venues.

The official opening involved organising a football competition for all QF community members who are under the age of 10 and 12 years old, in addition to a basketball and volleyball competitions.

Members of the QF community were given a once in a lifetime opportunity to take memorable pictures with the historic trophy.
