(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel spoke over the phone on Friday with Israeli Minister of Defense Moshe Ya'alon and discussed the coalition efforts to counter the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
The two sides discussed a range of regional issues and reaffirmed the strength of the US-Israel security relationship, said Pentagon Press Secretary Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby.
Today's phone call followed the seventh meeting between Hagel and Ya'alon, which took place at the Pentagon in October, Kirby added.
