Saudi- 'Warning shot' injures expat
(MENAFN- Arab News) A policeman in Makkah is facing investigation for injuring an Arab expatriate worker by shooting at him when the latter allegedly refused to remove window shades of his car and abused the officer.
Lt. Col. Aati Al-Qurashi spokesman of police in the Makkah region said the cop belonged to Al-Mansour police station. 'He opened fire at the expat when he refused to abide by the law.'
The cop had asked the man to stop his vehicle when he observed violations such as shading the vehicle's windows. 'The expat was told to remove the shade but he refused to do so and he attacked the officer physically and verbally. This prompted the officer to fire a warning shot.'
The shooting injured the expat's thigh. He was taken to hospital where he is stable. 'Investigations are under way in preparation to pass the case to the authorities concerned' he said.
