(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The National Way to Ramp Up Success (Nawras) programme has a duration of 18-24 months depending on the tasks and individual's progress.
It also offers comprehensive training for prospective ports supervisors, port operators and clerks.
The first group of 21 UAE nationals joined Nawras on Sunday and a second group of 19 Emirati trainees will join the programme in the new year.
Capt Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of ADPC, said, "Emiratisation is a main pillar of ADPC's corporate business strategy, directly supporting Abu Dhabi's Economic Vision 2030.With this in mind, the new Nawras programme will take our initiatives to empower Emirati talent to the next level.
"Our recruitment day attracted an unprecedented number of applicants and we are very excited to welcome the successful job seekers who have already proved themselves to be a dynamic and talented group of Emiratis to ADPC.
"Nawras is an innovative programme, promoting excellence and high standards, it will deliver a highly skilled professional Emirati workforce for the local maritime industry which is a major sector contributing to Abu Dhabi's economy."
Nawras is the follow-up on a recruitment event which ADPC organised in September together with Abu Dhabi Terminals, the terminal operator at Khalifa Port, and Abu Dhabi Tawteen Council, the government employment agency for Emirati job seekers.
The training programme includes eight weeks of English language training at the UAE Academy, as English is the language of international shipping, alongside extensive on-the-job port operations experience.
A dedicated coach will teach the Nawras trainees on-the-job related tasks and while a mentor will support them on the soft skills and the performance culture of the company.
