Saudi- Aggrieved drivers can now contest Saher fines online

(MENAFN- Arab News) Drivers who feel that they have been incorrectly fined under the Saher traffic management system can now lodge their objections online.

The General Directorate of Traffic launched the service on Sunday which would send acknowledgement of complaints to drivers by SMS or e-mail.

An official from the traffic department said motorists can register their objections on www.moi.gov.sa. They must fill in the prescribed forms online.

Last week the GCC launched the first-ever high-tech 'smart security patrol system' linked to Saher to monitor traffic violations and detect stolen vehicles.

The service will facilitate the uploading of medical reports for the issue and renewal of driver's licenses and will be directly linked to the health sector. There will also be an electronic form to report traffic accidents which will be integrated with the Najm system and insurance companies. An e-service for transfer of vehicle ownership will also be available.

Meanwhile a new electronic system that allows residents and drivers to take photographs of traffic accidents and send them to the authorities will be launched in February. It will be limited to accidents with no casualties.
