Saudi- List of engineers who forged certificates to be published

(MENAFN- Arab News) The president of the Saudi Council of Engineers Hamad Al-Shaqawi has said that a list will soon be published on the council's website that contains the names of all engineers who have forged their trade certificates. He said that the number of people who forged their certificates has now reached 1700 with new cases being discovered every day.

Al-Shaqawi added that the council's role is limited to uncovering forgeries while penalties are assigned to security authorities. He said that implementing the punishment for forgery which is a two year prison sentence and defamation will be applied without hesitation to those who have forged the certificates.

He also said that the council often notifies establishments when they employ engineers with forged certificates and demands their dismissal but companies have not tended to respond positively.

In one recent case an Arab resident of Palestinian origin had been working in the Kingdom for 25 years through a forged certificate from an Arab university.

He claimed to posses an architectural engineering degree when he first applied for his position at the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation though his forgery has now been uncovered.
