Kuwait to be home base for GCC winter sport cmte

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY Nov 1 (KUNA): Kuwait has been handpicked to be the headquarters of the organizing committee of GCC winter sport championships for four years Kuwait Winter Sports Club Chairman Fahad Al-Ajmi said here on Saturday. He added that he was also chosen to be the head of the committee and Bashar Al-Nassar of Kuwait as secretary-general of the newly created committee.

The moves were taken during the consultative meeting of winter games clubs and federations in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states which was held in the Qatari capital of Doha on Thursday Al-Ajmi told KUNA. The meeting was attended by sports representatives from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Oman Qatar and Kuwait he said adding that the new decisions would certainly contribute to developing GCC winter games.

The fact that Kuwait was chosen to host and chair the committee reflects its administrative and sports development given that it has now played host to a couple of GCC winter hockey championships he pointed out.
