SABIC ranks among listed companies in transparency
(MENAFN- Arab News) Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) is the only company in the Arab and the rest of the Gulf regions to be included in a list of the world's largest publically listed companies in transparency and public commitment on a Transparency International report for 2014 Transparency in Corporate Reporting: Assessing the World's Largest Companies.
SABIC scored joint 18th position in the report which evaluates and ranks the transparency of corporate reporting by the largest 124 publicly-listed companies in 25 countries. In particular the report assesses the transparency and disclosure practices of companies with respect to their anti-corruption programs company holdings and public disclosure of key financial information.
In the reporting on the anti-corruption programs section SABIC tied for fourth place with Arcelor Mittal Astra Zeneca BASF Diageo HSBC Holdings JPMorgan Royal Dutch Shell and Volkswagen Group.
In the organizational transparency section SABIC tied for eighth place with BP Diageo Gazprom GlaxoSmithKline Rio Tinto Tesco and Vodafone.
In the country-by-country reporting SABIC tied for 24th place with 3M Bank of China BASF Bayer BNP Paribas Diageo Mitsubishi UFJ Financial and News Corp.
SABIC which was ranked 72 out of 105 in 2012 has improved its score to reach this advanced position thanks to the company's strong anti-corruption stand.
SABIC was ranked 11 out of 100 in Transparency International's emerging market report last year which covered companies from selected countries. This year the Transparency International report covers the largest global companies in all countries around the world based on their size.
