Palestinian amb meets UNSC Pres. on Israeli attacks


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Permanent Observer of the State of Palestine to the United Nations Ambassador Riyadh Mansour on Wednesday conveyed a letter to UN Security Council President, condemning Israeli attacks in East Jerusalem.

Ambassador Mansour told reporters after the meeting that in collaboration with the Jordanian side, "we are undertaking a combined efforts in the UNSC," for the Council to shoulder its responsibility immediately.

He also said that e expects the UNSC to call upon the Israeli side to stop all activities that "intensifies this explosive situation," and to demand that the Israeli government honor and respect the historic agreement of maintaining the status quo.

The Palestinian diplomat expressed readiness to cooperate with Member States to adopt a position by the Council to demand that Israeli occupying authorities withdraw from Al-Aqsa Mosque, and not to convert this issue into a "religious" confrontation.
